Ernesto Nazareth is acknowledged as one of the greatest composers in Brazil. Masters such as Villa-Lobos, Radamés Gnattalli and Darius Milhaud composed pieces in his honor, to show their admiration. His extensive work is composed of 211 songs, but 1/4 of it remains completely unrecorded.

Choro Music presents in this rollout 14 rare compositions by Ernesto Nazareth, performed by pianist Alexandre Dias. Eight of the pieces are first world recordings, and the remaining tracks are now being recorded in their original version for piano solo for the first time. Among the unpublished songs, you will have the chance to listen to the mysterious melody of the choro Furinga and the virtuosic waltz Fantástica [Fantastic], written in the best Chopinian tradition. This CD also contains the masterpieces Proeminente [Prominent] and Suculento [Juicy], which today are virtually forgotten. They were recorded only in the 20s by orchestral groups and never before with their rich piano solo arrangement.

The pianist Alexandre Dias has been thoroughly researching the work and discography of Ernesto Nazareth since 1999, and his research has international standing. As from 2007, he decided to study the rare and unpublished works of the composer methodically, on which research the present recording was based.

You can purchase both the musical tracks and the scores in their original edition for piano solo. The scores were minutely revised, and we included numbered chords and fingerings for the most difficult passages, to make the performance easier. We also included explanatory texts with comments on the history of each piece, and a musical review of the techniques used.
